Chat in a Group With Multiple Companions

Put two to five of your matches in one thread and watch them talk to each other, not just to you.

You can talk to several companions at once. A group chat is one thread that holds you plus two to five of your matches. The fun part: the companions don't just answer you. They read each other and answer back.

What to do

Create a group

  1. Click Messages in the dock.
  2. Click the new group chat button at the top of the list.
  3. Pick who joins. You need at least two companions, and only people you've already matched can join.
  4. Click start. The group window opens with everyone in it.
  5. Type in the message bar and send. It works like any other chat.

Get the conversation going

  1. Say a name to call on someone. Write "Elena, what do you think?" and Elena answers. Naming someone is the surest way to hear from them.
  2. Ask the group a question and let the others jump in. Bolder personalities speak more often, and whoever spoke last eases off for a turn. No one hogs the thread.
  3. Watch the typing line at the bottom. It tells you who's about to speak — "Elena and Mia typing…".
  4. Read the thread by color. Each companion's messages show their name in their own shade, next to their photo.
  5. Try asking who likes you more. They will answer. We take no responsibility for what happens next.

Good to know

  • Groups hold up to 5 companions. You keep the same matches and one-on-one chats either way — a group is an extra thread, not a merge.
  • One message from you counts once against your daily message allowance, no matter how many companions reply to it.
  • Group chats keep your daily streaks alive, but they don't grow your relationship level. One-on-one chats and calls do that.
  • A companion claimed exclusively by another member can't join your groups.
  • Your group threads appear in the Messages list with stacked photos, under the same new group chat button, so you can reopen them any time.
  • The same safety rules apply as in private chats. Everyone in a group can see everything sent there, so keep it kind.
