Is Chai still worth using in 2026?

It depends on what you want. Chai remains one of the largest AI character platforms — 14M+ user-created characters, roughly 1.5M daily active users, and a permissive content filter that made it popular. But 2026 brought unannounced token limits that froze chats mid-conversation with lockouts of hours to over a week, recurring short outages, a free tier that's ad-funded and blocked in 20+ countries, and pricing that rose sharply in the spring. If you mainly want variety of roleplay characters on mobile, it still delivers; if you want games, calls, or reliable continuity, alternatives fit better.

Chai's own pricing page lists a 24-hour free Pro trial ($0 today, then $159.99/year), an Annual Plan at $159.99/year (about $13.33/month), and a Weekly Plan at $9.99/week. Third-party reviews report a Premium tier around $13.99/month and an Ultra tier around $29.99/month, with prices varying by platform and region. One review noted effective monthly costs rose roughly 130% in spring 2026, so check the current app listing before subscribing.

Does FlirtAlly have real games?

Yes — 16 server-authoritative games including tic-tac-toe, Connect 4, checkers, blackjack, Truth or Dare, Would You Rather, and the LLM-judged Flirt Battle. Seven of them are wagerable with credits, the companion plays for keeps, remembers results, and brings up old losses in later conversation. This is a genuine differentiator: Chai's experience is chat-only, with no playable games against characters.

Can I try FlirtAlly without signing up?

Yes. FlirtAlly runs in the browser and guests can chat immediately — 25 messages per day, one companion, one photo and one voice note daily, with no account needed. Signing up with email grants 25 bonus credits and keeps every conversation. Paid plans start at Spark, $9.99/month with unlimited chat, 30 call minutes per day, and 30-day memory.

Is Chai available in my country?

The app is available almost everywhere, but free usage is not. In January 2026, Chai blocked free ad-supported access in countries where ad revenue couldn't cover server costs — including India, Pakistan, Egypt, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Venezuela, and roughly 15 others. Users in those regions now need a paid subscription to send messages. The US, Canada, and most of Europe retain free ad-supported access.

Chai remains one of the biggest AI chat apps in 2026 — 14M+ user-created characters, ~1.5M daily active users, and a permissive filter — but its free tier is ad-gated and region-blocked, and paid access runs $159.99/year on its annual plan. If you mainly want endless variety of community-made characters, stay with Chai; if you want one companion who plays, calls, and remembers, FlirtAlly is the better fit.Bottom line: For gamers specifically, FlirtAlly wins on substance: it ships 16 real games with wagers, voice calls, email, and layered memory, while Chai's core loop is chat-only with a massive character library. Chai still wins on sheer character variety and mobile polish.
