What is Ouba, exactly?

Ouba (ouba.art) is an AI interactive-fiction platform for adults aged 18 and over. Readers browse creator-defined stories, choose a premise and opening, and influence AI-generated continuations through suggested choices or their own input. Continuations are generated during the reading session rather than selected from a prewritten branch tree, so continuity and a particular ending are not guaranteed. It runs on the web, as an Android app on Google Play, and inside Telegram as @OubaStoriesBot.

Ouba offers a daily free reading allowance, with paid options for additional reading; the current allowance and available offers are shown in the app. Free access does not mean unlimited generation, and the number of passages in a reading session is not a fixed book length. No account is needed to start reading.

Does Ouba have an iPhone app?

No. Ouba has an Android app on Google Play, but there is no iOS app yet, so iPhone and iPad readers use Ouba in the browser at ouba.art. The same stories are available on web, Android, and Telegram, so nothing is missing functionally — but if a native installed app on iPhone is a hard requirement, Talefy's native iOS app is the genuine point in its favor.

What's the closest like-for-like Ouba alternative?

Talefy. Like Ouba, it is real authored, branching interactive fiction where your choices move the plot — not a chatbot. It differs in feel: Talefy plays like a game, with a catalogue of 200+ pre-built story games (fantasy, romance, drama, RPG-style) wrapped in cover art and a visual presentation, on native iOS and Android. It's free to start, with subscriptions from around $1.99 per its store listings.

Why would someone switch away from Ouba?

The two most common reasons are platform and catalogue depth. There's no iOS app yet, so iPhone users who want an installed app switch to Talefy, which ships native iOS and Android apps. Readers who want a deep pre-built shelf of finished story games also tend toward Talefy's 200+ title catalogue. And some people who go looking for an Ouba alternative actually want an AI companion rather than fiction — in that case a platform like FlirtAlly, where companions text first and build ongoing memory across calls, email, and games, is the better-matched switch.

Is FlirtAlly an Ouba alternative?

Only in the sense that both are AI-driven experiences for adults — they do different jobs. Ouba is a story you read and steer; FlirtAlly is an AI-companion platform where you build an ongoing relationship with a companion who remembers you, texts first, plays 16 real games with credit wagers, makes voice calls on real phone lines, exchanges email and even physical letters, and posts on a social feed. FlirtAlly is free to start with no account needed, with paid plans from $9.99/month, and its 18+ Spicy side requires ID-based age verification and a qualifying plan.

Are Ouba stories written entirely in advance?

No. Creators supply starting material such as a premise, characters, and an opening; later continuations are generated in response to your reading session. Suggested choices are directions for that continuation, not a complete tree of prewritten passages, and generated text can make continuity errors. If you want fully pre-built story games played start to finish, Talefy's catalogue model is closer to that.

Is 'Ouba' the same as oobabooga or ouba.com?

No. The product compared AI interactive-fiction platform at ouba.art, run by an independent US-based studio. It is unrelated to oobabooga, the look-alike ouba.com domain, the 2007 puzzle game, or the musician of the same name — same word, different entities.
