Linky AI is a free anime-style AI companion app from Skywork AI with 180,000+ user-created characters, 22 million downloads, and a social feed called Buzz — but its free tier is buried in ads (186 full-screen ads in five evenings in one 2026 test) and Premium costs $17/month or $109/year. FlirtAlly is a strong 2026 alternative: it starts free with no account needed, and companions text first, play 16 real games, make voice calls on real phone numbers, and even send physical mail. If you want the biggest character library and don't mind ads, stay with Linky; if you want depth of relationship over volume of characters, FlirtAlly or Talkie are the switches worth making.Bottom line: Linky's huge character library and Buzz feed are real strengths, but its ad-heavy free tier, short memory, and $17/month Premium push many users toward alternatives. Talkie is the better free anime-chat experience, while FlirtAlly wins on relationship depth — memory, games, calls, email, and physical mail.
