Is Replika still worth using in 2026?

For many users, yes. Replika reports over 42 million users worldwide and was rebuilt from the ground up in 2026 with a focus on emotional intelligence, memory, calls, and selfies. Its main trade-offs are the reported $19.99/month Pro price, a restrictive free tier (Friend relationship mode only), fewer roleplay scenarios than specialist platforms, and English-only support. If you want a mature, polished AI friend, it remains a strong choice; if you want multi-channel interaction or Chinese-language roleplay, alternatives fit better.

How much does Replika cost compared with FlirtAlly?

Third-party 2026 reporting lists Replika Pro at $19.99/month, $79.99/year, or a $299.99 one-time lifetime plan; Ultra and Platinum tiers cost more and add smarter conversations, video recognition, and other capabilities. FlirtAlly's verified pricing starts at $9.99/month (Spark, 250 credits, unlimited chat, 30 call minutes/day), with Flame at $19.99, Exclusive at $49.99, and VIP at $99.99; annual plans run $79.99–$899.99. FlirtAlly is cheaper at the entry tier, while Replika uniquely offers a lifetime purchase.

What happened with Replika's content policy in 2023?

In 2023, Replika suddenly restricted intimate interaction content, which caused strong user dissatisfaction — this is one of the most commonly cited cons in 2026 reviews. The company has since rebuilt the platform, but users seeking a romance-oriented companion should weigh that history. FlirtAlly takes a different approach: PG/Flirt is the default experience, and the 18+ 'Spicy' side is opt-in and requires ID-based age verification plus a Flame-or-above plan.

Can AI companions actually call you on the phone?

FlirtAlly companions own real PSTN phone lines you can dial, with real-time voice calls in-app; members can also buy a companion her own dedicated number (200 credits/month). Call transcripts become memories, so the companion follows up by text about what you discussed. Replika offers voice calls with your Rep inside the app ('they pick up every time'), including background calls on Pro, but not real telephone numbers. This is one of the clearest functional differences between the two platforms.

Which Replika alternative is best for non-English users?

For Traditional Chinese speakers, WeavAI is the standout: it's a Taiwan-developed platform described in 2026 guides as the most complete Traditional Chinese AI roleplay platform, with hundreds of designed characters from anime to original companions. Replika's interface is English-only, which 2026 reviews flag as a significant limitation for Chinese-speaking users. Both Replika and FlirtAlly currently serve English-speaking audiences.

Do any of these apps let me create my own companion?

FlirtAlly has the most developed creator path: any member can design a companion in the creator wizard with personality sliders, 27 auditionable voices, and face-locked portrait rendering. After a quick human review, creations join the public deck where every member can meet them, and creators earn 50% of everything members spend on their companion — media, unlocks, and claims. Replika lets you customize your own Rep's appearance, personality, and voice, but that companion is yours alone rather than part of a shared, monetizable cast.
